Environmental planning focuses on the decision making processes needed to manage the relationship that exists within and between natural systems and human systems. Environmental planning builds on a student's existing knowledge of natural resource management to give students an in-depth understanding of different planning approaches, principles and tools associated with environmental planning. Particular attention is given to establishing management objectives, and generating and evaluating options to solve management problems. It is assumed students have a basic understanding of social science. There is no residential school associated with this subject. On completion students will have the ability to combine initiative, judgement, and problem solving skills to address a variety of environmental problems through good planning processes.
