This subject will provide Indigenous students with information and resources designed to help them make a successful transition to tertiary study. The focus will be on encouraging students to identify and utilise strategies that enable successful university learning. These include identifying and developing support networks to facilitate academic success as well as acquiring the academic skills needed to study successfully.
Specifically this subject will help students recognise and harness their personal and cultural strengths as motivation for learning. Further it will show students how to plan for study and manage their time effectively; identify and apply their learning style; understand academic culture and language; read, take notes, and write for academic purposes; and use electronic resources for research and communication.
