SSS032 Introduction to Learning Online (2)

Introduction to Learning Online introduces students to the CSU online learning environment. Through authentic activities within Interact2, students will develop the skills and confidence necessary to successfully begin their studies at CSU. Practical learning activities will incorporate the key elements of online learning, including navigating the Interact2 environment, watching presentations, participating in online meetings and forum discussions, searching for and evaluating information and submitting assignments. Topics also encompass the development of a personal learning plan, time management and tips for locating additional internet based study tools and student support available. It is estimated that approximately 14 hours of personal study will be required to complete the subject.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • Use Interact2 for accessing study materials and maintaining effective interactions with lecturers and fellow students;
  • Use other CSU learning tools such as EASTS, the Online Meeting Tool and CSU Replay;
  • Use seach tools to locate relevant information on the Internet;
  • Develop a personal learning plan and time management strategies for effective online learning;
  • Demonstrate approaches that ensure meaningful participation in an online learning community;
  • Demonstrate awareness of online tools available for note taking, bookmarking and referencing:
  • Identify and locate resources and services to address future needs for effective online learning; and
