VSC465 Clinical Rotation 7- Advanced Practice (8)

This rotation provides students with the opportunity to develop skills in advanced veterinary practice and awareness of the economic drivers of animal production industries or clinical practice relevant to the rotation elective selected. Students may elect to complete a rotation placement with the Fred Morley Unit or external agency working in a consultancy, business, advisory or regulatory role. The rotation can also be performed by repeating Clinical Rotation 1, 2 or 3 (Equine, Small Animal or Dairy Cattle Practice) in an external specialist practice. If so, students are expected to demonstrate advanced levels of skills and knowledge in those rotations to achieve satisfactory grades. Students may not repeat any one of the Clinical Rotation 1, 2 or 3 external placements more than once in Phase 3 of their course. The focus of a livestock or animal production advisory or consultancy placement will include practical integration of economic drivers of production. In the context of an advanced clinical placement, where production parameters are not explicit outcomes, students will be provided with opportunities to integrate financial drivers of clinical decision making and/or practice management with their existing skills in implementation of evidence based practice.
