International Applicants
International applicants intending to apply for a position within Charles Sturt University should note the following:
- Due to Australian immigration requirements preference may be given to citizens and permanent residents of Australia
- General staff positions and academic positions at Level AL are generally filled by applicants holding Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency status. International applicants may be eligible for temporary residence sponsorship depending on the position being offered.
- You should be aware that temporary residents on class 457 visas are not covered by Australia’s Medicare System, therefore, it is a condition of employment that appointees sponsored by the University for temporary residence, join and contribute to the international Medicare Assistance Network (IMAN) for your and any dependants medical and hospital insurance upon your entry on duty.
- Appointees sponsored by the University as temporary residents are unable to engage in work for other employers as this will result in a breach of visa conditions.
- If offered employment, appointees will be required to notify the University of any Australian Immigration restrictions that may preclude them from fulfilling the terms of any contract offered by the University.
- An assessment of any overseas qualification/s and/or skills may be required as a condition of employment. Information is available from the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition website.
