Campbell first joined the National Wine & Grape Industry Centre in 2008 as the assistant experimental winemaker and completed his CSU Wine Science degree in 2009. While studying he worked at Domaine Chandon, Yarra Valley for two consecutive vintages.
In 2010/11 he travelled the world extensively returning for another vintage in McLaren Vale in 2012. He re-joined the Centre in 2013 as the experimental winemaker and has since worked extremely hard to streamline the winery operations and data management systems. His major achievements include the development of software specifically designed for research winemaking, the update of processing equipment and the expansion of the winery capacity to allow work on a broader range of research projects.
In 2016 the experimental winery expanded again to include production facilities for 1000 cases of premium boutique wine. These wines are sold in Wagga cellar door at the NWGIC, online and wholesale in the greater Wagga area.
