 Helen Pan

Helen Pan is currently employed as a Technical officer at National Wine & Grape Industry Centre, Charles Sturt University. She competed her Master Degree of Applied Science, Division I Honours in Plant Science at Massey University, New Zealand in 1997; Bachelor in Agriculture, Division in Grassland Science in 1984, Gansu Agricultural University in China. Her role is Quality Management System (QMS) Delegate & Laboratory Manager.

As the QMS Delegate she is responsible for document control & internal auditor for QMS; Calibration of weighing and measurement apparatus; Development, maintenance and applying Standard Operating Procedures and Protocols; Management of chemicals registration, storage and disposal. Laboratory management; Coordination and participation of external and internal audits for QMS and PC2 laboratory.

ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems are well proven as a fundamental tool for reducing waste and enterprise risk while increasing customer confidence and business performance through continual improvement. NWGIC laboratories are certified to meet the standard of AS/NZS ISO9001:2008 to ensure that the project delivers and maintains high standards and quality research output from its laboratories.

As laboratory manager she oversees other employees in a laboratory & coordinates all activities within a laboratory environment and ensures QMS Standard Operating Procedures and protocols are maintained and applied. Maintaining quality checks on safety of laboratories, including biohazards and insures maintenance of the laboratories according to Good Laboratory Practices and the requirements for certification of a PC2 Laboratory. Organise the performance of annual external services for instruments and equipment.

She also provided training and technical assistance to students and staff on operating and maintaining equipment and instruments. Support research projects when requested. She has received CSU Award for Performance Excellence, in 2009 and CSU Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Awards 2014 for Performance Excellence - Individual Award
