Mei Liu completed Masters degree in Science at Fujian Normal University, China. She first joined the National Wine & Grape Industry Centre (NWGIC) in 2015 as Technical Officer working with Asso. Prof. Sandra Savocchia and Dr. Regina Billones-Baaijens on the project “Practical management of eutypa and botryosphaeria dieback in Australian vineyards”.
She has laboratory experience and knowledge in fungal pathogen identification using morphological and molecular techniques. She is highly skilled with molecular biology techniques including multiplex PCR, UPPCR, RT-PCR, nested-PCR, quantitative PCR (q-PCR) and plant transgenic technique. She also provides technical assistance to postgraduate students and contributes to the research projects in the Molecular Plant Pathology and Microbiology Group at the NWGIC.
