As a community access point for the State Records NSW, our search room has the Archives Resources Kit (ARK) freely available to the public. The ARK contains numerous family history sources, consisting of microfilm and microfiche copies of highly sought after colonial records e.g. Shipping and Immigration Lists, Births, Deaths and Marriage Indexes, and Convict Records.
We also have a number of complementary resources including: regional newspapers, NSW and Victoria Government Gazettes, church registers, and a small library of local history books.
Our Regional Records Online Guide outlines the private and non-government records in our Collection. These include archives from local and regional businesses, community organisations, agricultural and pastoral organisations, religious agencies, interest groups, politicians and individuals.
A great addition to our search room are the parish and pastoral maps on CD-ROM that have been produced by the NSW Department of Lands and State Records NSW. These maps can also be viewed online at the NSW Department of Lands website.
