Mission

The Cotton Catchment Communities CRC’s mission is to undertake collaborative research, education and commercialisation activities to provide innovative knowledge that is adopted for the benefit of the Australian Cotton Industry, Regional Communities and the Nation.

Research Program

Key outcomes for the new Cotton Catchment Communities CRC are; improved economic performance of the cotton industry worth $1.2 billion, sustainable use of natural resources for regional communities. Its research focus will be on increasing crop yields; improving fibre quality; improving irrigation and water use efficiency; promoting productivity and innovation; providing research information on salinity, river health, and groundwater; enhancing biodiversity; enhancing industry skills; facilitating technology transfer and regional wealth.

Education

Delivering innovative education, extension and knowledge management systems that provide the cotton community with access to the skills, knowledge and capacity for more rapid adoption of the research outcomes. Using PhD programs, innovative short courses, science for schools, information delivery systems, innovative decision support tools, and implementation of a comprehensive environmental management system through further development and adoption of the Cotton industry’s environmental Best Management Practice (BMP) system.
