The CRC exists to manage water in the landscape through profitable farming systems based on perennial plants.
The objectives are to:
- Understand the structure and function of natural and agro-ecosystems;
- Select woody and herbaccous plants for perennial plant-based farming systems;
- Develop, test and demonstrate farming systems that reduce ground water and where necessary, tolerate waterlogging and salinity;
- Develop policy options based on understanding the socio-economic constraints to adoption of new farming systems;
- Quantify and publicise the off-site effects of new farming systems;
- Conduct education and technology transfer programs that enables users to apply CRC outputs.
