Mission
The CRC Plant Biosecurity’s vision is to be a world leader in the generation, development and delivery of plant biosecurity science and education.
The mission is to foster scientific collaboration and engage stakeholders to deliver plant biosecurity technologies that will reduce risk to, and ensure sustainability of, Australia ’s plant industries.
Research Program
The CRC's research program addresses the Australian Government’s National Research Priority of "Safeguarding Australia", by:
- Protecting Australia from invasive diseases and pests; and
- Protecting Australia from Terrorism and Crime.
CRC Plant Biosecurity's research programs are focused on innovative research and development, in key areas that will deliver benefits across a range of plant commodity groups. These programs will also introduce new technologies that will meet Australia ’s plant biosecurity needs within the shortest possible timeframe and will provide long-term benefits.
Education
CRC Plant Biosecurity has a strong commitment to the training of high quality postgraduate students and post-doctoral scientists to provide the nucleus of Australia ’s future plant biosecurity capacity. The Centre aims to support up to 38 PhD students over its lifetime, and also provides workshops and courses for scientists already working in the plant biosecurity field, to enhance the core capacity of Australia . The CRC is supporting the development of a national postgraduate curriculum in Plant Biosecurity, and aims to raise awareness of biosecurity issues at the industry, community, and secondary and primary school levels.
