The rural and remote education inquiry stage 1 evaluation report
The Evaluation of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission National Inquiry into Rural and Remote Education was conducted in 2001 by the University of Wollongong to undertake the evaluation in partnership with the Commission. The evaluation findings have some general relevance to public inquiries as well as providing insights on the effectiveness of this particular inquiry.

ERIC Clearinghouse on Rural Education & Small Schools
Part of the US National Library of Education, the ERIC system helps everyone find information about education and schooling. These pages provide access to news, information and resources on Rural and Small Schools, also Native Alaskan and American Indian education and other issues.

Youth Research Centre
Set up by the Youth Research Centre at the University of Melbourne, the Youth Affairs Research Network provides information about youth-related research in Australia. It consists of this web site and an electronic mailing list. The site contains information on current research, publications.

Rural Education Program
Located at the Northwest Regional Education Laboratory (NWREL) in Portland, Oregon, USA. The Rural Education Program is concerned with issues of educational quality, equity and access among small, rural schools and communities. The site features information on successful schools workshops; school-community renewal design; multiage instruction (composite grades to Australians); characteristics of rural schools; and links to national (US) resources for rural education.
