What We Need From You
The University has now returned its submission for two clusters (PCE and HCA) in the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) Trial, and is preparing for the Full ERA process in early 2010.
Full ERA, to be run for ALL disciplines in 2010, will require data from 2003 - 2008.
The ERA Team needs the following information from you to ensure that we have accurate data to submit to ERA for assessment.
Research Publications (journal articles, books, chapters, conference papers):
- All research publications which a) would normally meet HERDC criteria, and b) bear a publication year between and including 1 January 2003 and 31 December 2008, need to be on CRO so they are available for ERA.
- CRO already contains all material from the CSU HERDC submissions from 2002-2007. More recent publications may also have already been loaded to CRO by a co-author. To avoid duplication it is important that all authors check what is currently in CRO before loading a publication. The most efficient way to check is to conduct an ‘Advanced Search’ by author name (see FAQ's:Submitting to CRO for further details about searching).
- Pre-CSU publications:Researchers who have joined CSU since 2003 need to submit ALL research publications written between 2003 and the date they joined CSU (see FAQ's: Submitting to CRO for information on specific issues with submitting this data; for example the importance author affiliation information). Pre-CSU publications are eligible outputs for CSU’s submission to ERA, even though they pre-date employment at CSU.
- Authors will need to check the six digit FoR codes allocated in CRO to all conference papers, book chapters and books. FoR codes for journals are assigned by the ARC; any article in a ranked journal will automatically be allocated the ARC-assigned FoR code/s.
- Please see the FAQ's:Submitting to CRO for further information
Creative Works
For the Trial, ERA included four categories of Creative Works as eligible outputs. Since these have not previously been collected for any external exercise (for example, for HERDC reporting), this will require significant retrospective identification and uploading of eligible outputs from 2003 – 2008 (inclusive).
Works should be entered into the Institutional Repository (CRO – CSU Research Output) as soon as possible. Your attention is particularly drawn to the following points:
- To be considered for inclusion in ERA, each entry MUST be accompanied by a ‘Research Statement for Peer Review of Creative Works’, which identifies the research component of the output. Statements exceeding the word limit (TBA) will need to be returned for editing. Please see the FAQ’s: Creative Works page for further details on the expected format and content of research statements.
- Supporting documentation (for example, reviews, leaflets, catalogue extracts, programmes, promotional material), as well as digitised versions of the work itself (sound recordings, images, script texts, etc) should be loaded with your submission wherever possible, provided copyright ownership permits. Please use the ‘Depositors Comments’ box in the submission form to alert us to any issues surrounding your submission, including anything relating to copyright.
- Please see the FAQ's: Creative Works page for additional information.
