Problem Focussed Research Groupings (PFRG)
Aim
A Problem Focussed Research Grouping will be led by an established Research Leader, usually at the Professorial level (Associate Professor or Professor), and be comprised of a discipline or transdisciplinary group of academic/adjunct/general staff and research students. The Research Leader would be expected to take a mentoring and facilitating role.
Value
Budgets should be between $25,000 and $30,000.

Applications
Applications of no more than ten pages (pages 11 and on will be deleted) should be forwarded to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) by the last Friday in February 2008 using the following headings:
- Name of the proposed PFRG.
- Name of the Research Leader.
- The staff and research students wishing to be involved.
- A clear description of the problem/issue to be addressed by the group.
- An outline of the significance of the problem/issue.
- A description of how the research group skills and interests position it to address the problem/issue.
- An outline of the sources of external funding to support the group's activities to address this problem.
- A description of any external partners who can support the grouping to address the problem/issue.
- The track record (grant and publication information) of the key researchers and an outline of their contribution thus far to the problem/issue.
- Expected objectives and outcomes in terms of external project and program grant applications submitted and/or publications submitted and/or the enhancement of the University's research culture.
- Annual budget for the years proposed activities. The University will support between 8 and 10 PFRG and has allocated $250,000. Budgets should be between $25K and $30 K.
