Our Strong Research Capacity

The Graham Centre is ideally located to undertake research in the dryland and irrigated mixed farming, and the permanent pasture agricultural systems of south-eastern Australia. The combined infrastructure of Charles Sturt University and NSW Department of Primary Industries provides quality research and teaching facilities to service all research areas for soil, plant, animal and veterinary sciences.

Our facilities include controlled–environment growth rooms and glasshouses, laboratories, specialised equipment for molecular studies, animal house and handling areas, land for field experimentation and field-based facilities including a rhizolysimeter. The aim is to develop joint facilities and co-location of staff to enhance capacity.

Research teams are created from a pool of over 100 staff and undergraduate and postgraduate students, with excellent facilities at Wagga Wagga, Yanco and Orange .

Staff are divided into the following Discipline Groups:

The research integrates these sciences into multi-disciplined teams with a focus on mixed farming systems. While a broad range of issues are addressed, the Strategic Research Initiatives are the highest priority.
