Honours Scholarships

Aim

Graham Centre Honours Scholarships aim to support high quality students undertaking a research project in 2014 as part of an Honours year.

Value

Honours scholarships have a total value of $5,000, comprising $3,000 stipend for the student and $2,000 operating funds to support the project.

Guidelines for Eligibility

1. Who can apply?

  1.1 Scholarships are only available to full-time students undertaking an Honours Degree in 2014.
  1.2 Students must have achieved an academic standard that will allow entry into the CSU Honours Program and any scholarship offer made under this scheme is contingent upon the student being accepted into the Honours program.
  1.3 Honours Scholarships are only available to students who are not in receipt of scholarship funding from an alternative source in 2014.

2. Research Projects

  2.1 The student’s research project must account for at least 50% of their final year.
  2.2 The research project must be closely aligned with the Graham Centre’s Research Pathways.
  2.3 The application must demonstrate that the project has clearly defined aims which are achievable within the scope of an Honours degree.
  2.4 Suitable resources must be available within CSU and/or NSW DPI to support the project.

3. Supervision

  3.1 Applicants are required to seek joint supervision by an academic staff member of CSU, together with an appropriately qualified staff member from NSW DPI  (where available).
  3.2 All supervisors must have a demonstrable track record of student supervision.
  3.3 At least one supervisor must be a member of the Graham Centre (see member list here).
  3.4 Prior to submission, students should discuss their application with their intended supervisor/s.

4. Other requirements

  4.1 Successful applicants are required to present a seminar at the conclusion of the Honours program or at an appropriate time as determined by the student’s supervisor/s or the Centre Director. The seminar is to be open to members of the Graham Centre to attend (and must be advertised accordingly).
  4.2 The Graham Centre must be acknowledged in all theses, presentations and papers arising from the research conducted as part of this scholarship.
