After graduating from the University of Adelaide with a BAppSc (Ag) (Hons), John completed a Masters Degree at CSU investigating herbicide resistance in wild oats in southern NSW. Since then he has participated in several herbicide resistance projects including herbicide resistance to knockdown herbicides and herbicide resistance in weeds of rice.
John manages the CSU Herbicide Resistance Testing Service and is involved in the EH Graham Centre's Integrated Weed Management research project.
He is also involved in the Wagga Wagga node of the CRC for Future Farm Industries EverGraze project, with his PhD research focusing on means of improving profitability of sheep enterprises and reducing recharge through the use of perennial pastures.
Research and Teaching
- PhD research - Shelter and new-born lamb survival, within the CRC for Future Farm Industries "Evergraze" project. ( FFI CRC)
- Integrated weed management (MLA)
John gives occasional lectures on herbicide resistance.
Interests
- Use of GPS and remote sensing in tracking movement of livestock and interaction of mother and offspring.
