Research Pathways
The Centre’s research priorities are currently focused on five primary areas known as “Research Pathways”. These are summarised below.
| Research Pathway | Overall outcome | Leaders |
|---|---|---|
| Conservation cropping - stubble - break crops (canola & pulses) - food quality |
Profitable and sustainable winter crops through improved rotations, agronomy, genetics and soil and water management practices including stubble retention Projects: Conservation cropping |
I Hume |
| Ruminant feedbase - pastures & crops - forage conservation - nutrition - food quality |
Improved productivity, quality and profitability for the livestock industries by developing efficient feedbase options, including pastures, crops and annual legumes and fodder conservation Projects: Ruminant feedbase |
J Piltz M Friend |
| Bio-protection & IPM of crops & pastures - weeds - diseases - pests |
Improved crop protection by integrating biological, genetic, cultural and chemical tools to reduce pesticide dependence, resistance and the spread and impact of weeds, diseases and pests on production systems Projects: Bio-protection & IPM of crops & pastures |
A Milgate L Weston |
| Animal health & welfare - diseases - parasites - preventative healthcare - welfare practices |
Reduced impacts of diseases, parasites and other factors impacting on animal productivity by improving preventative healthcare and feedbase management, on-farm bio-security and animal welfare practices Projects: Animal health & welfare |
R Woodgate |
| Irrigated cropping systems - stubble - soil constraints - break crops (canola & pulses) - food quality |
Irrigated cropping systems are productive and adaptable to changing demands (of food security and climate change) Projects: Irrigated cropping systems |
