Applying for ILWS PhD Scholarships

PhD Scholarhsip Opportunity

An ILWS scholarship is available for a full-time doctoral student willing to undertake research into one of the following areas:

• Regional ageing – how elderly people cope with disaster
  
• Risk perception, insurance and the economics of disaster
• The professionalization of volunteer training
  

Supervisors will be drawn from CSU staff who have been engaged in research into disaster management programs with a special emphasis on flooding.

The successful applicant would need to commence, at the latest, by November 18, 2013.

ILWS Postgraduate Scholarships for 2014 intake

Each year the Institute for Land, Water and Society awards 2 research higher degree scholarships to students keen to work in targeted research areas.

APPLICATIONS are now open and must be submitted by October 31 2013

ILWS research topics include socio-economic, socio-cultural and/or ecological issues associated with our strategic research areas. Projects need not be multi or interdisciplinary, but proposals that encompass integrated approaches will be viewed favorably.

If your research is aligned to ILWS strategic research areas we invite you to apply for a Higher Degree by Research Scholarship. To determine your eligibility for a HDR scholarship please refer too: main round - Research - Charles Sturt University.

To complete an application for a Higher Degree by Research Scholarship whereby your research is affiliated with the Institute of Land, Water and Society (ILWS) you need to action the following 2 steps by no later than the 31st October 2013: -
Step 1 - Application Form, 2 x Referee Reports to be submitted to the Research Office. Please refer to the Scholarship Guidelines before applying. Details of where to submit are detailed on the forms / guidelines available: - main round - Research - Charles Sturt University

• Nomination of a potential supervisor(s) who is a member of ILWS

• 500 word outline of the proposed research area including a brief description of how the proposed research fits with the aims of the ILWS.
