Mr Ian Kiernan AO

Chairman, Clean Up Australia and Clean Up the World
Ian Kiernan is the Founder and Chairman of Clean Up Australia and Clean Up the World ­ a community based organisation which aims to inspire and work with Australians to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment. Ian holds Chairmanships with the Co-operative Research Centre (CRC) for Environmental Biotechnology, Primary Energy [Gunnedah], The Central Coast Marines Football Club and Lord Howe Island Museum Trust. He is a Director of CVC Reef Ltd, Deputy Chair of the NSW Government's Expert Water Advisory Panel; Patron of the Enviro-Finance Association of Australia, Australasian Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association and the Sydney Agricultural, Rural and Public Land Trust. During 2004 Ian was made a NSW Ambassador for the Year of the Built Environment. In recognition of his leadership in the environment and the community both in Australia and internationally, Ian was named 1994 Australian of the Year. He holds the Order of Australia Medal (OAM), was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) on Australia Day 1995 and awarded the Centenary medal in 2003. In 1993, Ian was made a UNEP Global 500 Laureate for leadership in the local and global environment and was awarded the prestigious United Nations Environment Programme Sasakawa Environment Prize in 1998.

Dr Steve Morton

Group Executive, CSIRO Environment and Natural Resources
Dr Steve Morton is a research scientist and manager with a background in arid zone ecology and in the challenge of linking conservation with production through sustainable development. He has worked in many parts of Australia, particularly Central Australia, the Top End and the South-East. After some years as Chief of CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems, Steve is now a member of CSIRO's Executive Team as Group Executive for Materials, Manufacturing and Minerals.
