Dr Manohar Pawar is a senior lecturer in social work and human services, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and a principal researcher and an associate director of the Centre for Rural Social Research, Institute for Land Water and Society, Charles Sturt University , Wagga Wagga , Australia . He has more than 20 years of experience in social work education, research, and practice in Australia and India . Earlier he taught at La Trobe University, Melbourne, and at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai , India .

Dr. Pawar received a Quality of Life Award in 2001 from the Association of Commonwealth Universities , and a Research Excellence Award, also in 2001, from the Faculty of Arts, Charles Sturt University . He has received more than $150,000 in research grants and completed a number of national and international research projects involving Asia­Pacific countries, and published several books and refereed journal articles. A sample of his recent publications is listed below. Dr. Pawar's current areas of interest include international social development, social work and social policy, social work education, NGOs, and community development. Dr Pawar is a member of the International Social Work Committee of the AASW and Co­Convenor of the Asia­Pacific branch of the International Consortium for Social Development.
