Assoc Professor Watts is an aquatic scientist who has been with Charles Sturt University since 1995. Robyn has 15 years research experience in the fields of ecology, population genetics and management of aquatic ecosystems. Over the past five years she has undertaken research on ecological responses to flow regimes in regulated rivers, and was team leader of an ARC project that furthered the development of ecological indicators for the assessment of environmental flows.
She has collaborated with CSIRO Land and Water on a project that developed catchment assessment techniques to help managers set priorities for river restoration. The outcomes of this research have contributed to a river restoration program being implemented by the Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority. She has undertaken a number of research projects and consultancies for the Murray-Darling Basin Commission including leading the Murrumbidgee Regional Evaluation Group for the Living Murray Initiative and the assessment a managed flow pulse in the Mitta Mitta River .
In 2001 she was a member of the River and Floodplain Ecology Research Group that won the Charles Sturt University Vice-Chancellor's Award for Team Research.
Robyn has ten years tertiary teaching experience in the fields of aquatic ecology, restoration ecology and environmental impact assessment and is Course Coordinator of a Masters in Environmental Management and Restoration, Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management, Graduate Certificate in Restoration Ecology and a Postgraduate Certificate in River Restoration and Management.
