Researchers within the group work to enhance human services available in rural and regional Australia.

The group's vision is to work towards a rural and regional Australia that is socially, economically and environmentally sustainable.

An important role of the group is to foster research training and generate scholarly and public debate.

Rural Society

"Rural Society" is a journal of research into rural and regional social issues for Australia and New Zealand published by this group from 1991. Since 2007 the journal has been published commercially and available on-line but CSU retains editorial responsibilities.
