About NWGIC Training

The National Wine and Grape Industry Centre provides vocational education and training utilising the resources of the three partners.

An agreement between Charles Sturt University and Tocal College (an Education college of NSW Department of Primary Industries) allows the sharing of resources and staff for vocational education and training. Tocal College has two campuses, one at Paterson near Maitland - CB Alexander campus and the other at Yanco - Murrumbidgee Rural Studies Centre (MRSC).

Completion of training courses at a vocational level allows students to advance into the winegrowing, wine science, food technology and food science degree courses offered by CSU. Many of the short courses on offer are accredited and award candidates with nationally recognised qualifications.

In addition, the NWGIC delivers the more traditional Certificate courses in the workplace to suit the needs of industry. These Certificate courses can be delivered for the benefit of an enterprises employee/s and set up as formal Traineeships through a New Apprenticeship Centre. Alternatively those individuals eligible could choose Tocal Collage as there preferred training provider and take advantage of the Commonwealths new Work Skills Voucher programme gaining training 'vouchers' up to the value of $3000 in Certificate II or III in Food Processing (WINE). Murrumbidgee Irrigation Envirowise training incentives

MIA Envirowise has launched a new financial incentive program for primary producers in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. The incentive is aimed at making further education more accessible to local farming families. Up to $2,000 per farming enterprise is available.
