Who supplies this service?

NeCTAR (National eResearch Collaboration Tools and Resources) is an Australian Government project to build new infrastructure specifically for the needs of Australian researchers.

What is this service?

NeCTAR offers a range of virtual machines with a set of pre-installed software.

  • Small: 1 CPU/10Gb Disc/4096Mb RAM
  • Medium: 2 CPU/10Gb Disc/8192Mb RAM
  • Large: 8 CPU/10Gb Disc/32768Mb RAM
  • Extra Large: 16 CPU/10Gb Disc/65536Mb RAM

How can I access this service?

  1. Username and Password:
    Simply use you CSU username and password after you have selected CSU from the AAF (Australian Access Federation) dropdown list.
  2. Client Software:
    To access the machine you will need terminal emulation software.
    a. Secure CRT:
    CSU has a standard client installed on all its Desktop Machines.
    b. PuTTY:
    This is open source software which can be download for free from Putty.org.
