Karen Edwards

Karen works with the BECIS team in the role of Service Manager having also been in the role of Project Manager

In 2015, Karen undertook a role with Early Childhood Intervention Australia (NSW/ACT) (ECIA) as the Inclusion Program Coordinator for 6 months, returning to BECIS March 2016 in a Project Manager role.  She is currently working with the BECIS team towards preparing the organisation for the launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Bathurst which is scheduled for 1 July 2017.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Education (Special Education), Master of Education (Early Childhood) and a Diploma of Management combined with 20 years experience working in the long day care, university and early childhood intervention sectors.

Karen has been actively involved with ECIA (NSW/ACT) since 2007 serving as a past Board member and as past chair of the Education and Training and Publications sub-committees.  Working closely with ECIA (NSW/ACT) enabled Karen to inform the peak body about the unique issues relevant to children and their families living in regional NSW.  In 2013-2015, Karen was also part of ECIA's Focus on Early Childhood Inclusion project team which was funded by Department of Family & Community Services - Ageing, Disability & Home Care and aimed to build the capacity of the early childhood intervention sector to further improve the inclusion of children with disability and/or developmental delay within their home, early childhood services and community.

Karen enjoys spending time with her daughter, travelling and her English Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Sadie and Leo.
