PHD

PHD is a strategic-led planning and buying company, which sits alongside OMD as part of the Omnicom Media Group.

PHD launched in the UK in 1990, built on a culture of creativity and innovation.  We substantially invest in this culture as it generates a unique, energetic and infectious working environment. An environment where people are motivated by ‘the new’.

We encapsulate our essence in one word.  That word is ‘Pioneering’.

This word acts as a shorthand to guide everything we do – from how we come up with ideas through to how we treat our clients.  You can see it in the quality of our people, our work, the way we service our clients through to our proprietary tools.

Because we are constantly improving the quality of our communications planning and trading services, PHD clients get and maintain, a competitive advantage.  This ultimately leads to a greater financial contribution from marketing investment.

Australia is newest in the PHD network, of 41 offices around the world, and with 2000 staff.

We aim t o make Cowra the most attractive and rewarding area in all aspects of life in rural New South Wales and strive towards this vision in all that we do.

Council's decision to undertake the Scholarship program with CSU came from the importance our community places on opportunities in higher education. Council is committed to assisting local students in their desire to gain the skills needed to become experts in their field. We look forward to seeing many of these students return to Cowra as professionals.

This lifestyle continued after a move to Bowral in the Southern Highlands . A return to Wagga Wagga in 1990 allowed them both to further their studies with Kerry completing a Masters of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship) and Tony a Bachelor of Medical Science (Pharmaceutics) at CSU's Wagga campus.

The Bush Children's Education Foundation of  NSW Inc was founded by the Royal Flying Doctor, Dr Charles Huxtable in 1965. Originally the founders supported the development of a hostel at Tibbooburra but over the years its focus has been broadened to support isolated, remote area students who must board away from home for their schooling and education, essentially living beyond reasonable daily travel to and from a local school.

It operates with a Board of  nine  directors ,all of whom, though drawn from various professions including farmers and graziers, have a country background. The  BCEF charter is to ensure that no student is deprived a normal education due to isolation from a regular school. Its funds are received solely from  donations from interested individuals.

It currently supports 63 students in Agricultural Boarding High Schools, Hostels and lower fee charging country boarding schools.

The Tertiary Scholarship award is a new initiative, recognising the financial difficulties that isolated country students face at university even though it recognises the assistance available through Commonwealth Learning Scholarships.
