*exchange students will need to be flexible in their choice of classes within Journalism. – These classes fill very quickly with Regina’s own students and it is a very controlled program.

Session Dates:

Winter - early January to late April
Fall - early September to late December

Accommodation:

There are three housing options at Regina University in either apartment or dormitory style accommodation with a variety of meal plans available.  Students may also elect to participate in the university’s Host Family Program.  First time arrivals live with local family who provide a homely environment which helps facilitate adjustment to a new life, promote inter-cultural understanding and offer friendship to combat isolation and homesickness.  Further information regarding residential options is available at http://www.uregina.ca/residences/

Study Permit/Visa information:

In order to enter Canada to study at the University of Regina, you may need a "Temporary Resident Visa" (this allows you to enter Canada), and a "Study Permit" (This allows you to study whilst in Canada and also makes you eligible to participate in the free medical insurance plan). These documents are obtained from the Canadian Embassy, Canadian Consulate General or Canadian High Commission in your country
Exchange students do not need a Study Permit to enter Canada for study periods of less than six months. But without one that lists Regina as their destination of study, they will not qualify for the government sponsored Saskatchewan Health Services Insurance Plan (SHSIP).

Health Insurance:

The province of Saskatchewan provides full health benefits to international students who have obtained a Study Permit.
Students without a Study Permit will be required to purchase their own health insurance from their home country.

Exchange Student support services:

The University of Regina International Student Services provides many services to exchange students.
Airport pickup can be arranged, with prior notification, so students can meet a friendly UR International face and get to where they need to go easily. Orientation sessions are setup for students to receive all the information they need about the U of R, Regina, and extras such as health card applications. There’s also a reception for students to chat with other SEP students,URI and Student Affairs staff members.      

Approximate expenses for one academic semester:

• Accommodation $1744 – $3024 CDN per semester
• Meal Plan $1000 – 2000 CDN per semester
• Books and supplies $500CDN
