Accommodation:

International student often find it easier to organise short term accommodation through private means. There are several accommodation options, three of these are:

  1. The "foyers" accommodates young people from 16 to 25 years old.
  2. The "residences universitaires" (student residence), offer a high quality of comfort and services (laundry facilities, internet access...) with a student atmosphere.
  3. Apartment hotels. Top quality accommodation for short term and long term stays.

Exchange Student support services:

International students are welcomed to ISC by a specially created student body, the AIESEC. These AIESEC and the International Office provide housing assistance and organise special events to welcome and assist foreign students. Exchange students can participate in social activities, organized trips, concerts, sports, and more.

Visa Information:

Australian students must apply for a Long Stay Visa. Applications may be lodged up to three months before travelling, in person or by mail, at the Consulate-General of France in Sydney. Documents you will need to submit to obtain a visa are:

  1. Long Stay Visa application form (including a passport photograph)
  2. Passport
  3. Payment of non-refundable processing fee (by credit card)
  4. Enrolment Certificate in a French university or accredited college (original + copy)
  5. Accommodation document (on campus, host family etc) (copy)
  6. Evidence of sufficient resources. Students may provide a guarantee of financial support for those without sufficient funds. Parents may present evidence such as professional advice from accountant, bank manager or a financial adviser.
  7. Evidence of comprehensive private health insurance. University students aged under 28 may join the French public health fund for students at an affordable annual cost of ??? 180. Further information regarding health insurance can be found at Consulate General de France
  8. A National Criminal History Record Check : standard disclosure issued by the police authorities of your State or Territory.
  9. Large self-addressed envelope Express Post or Registered Post
  10. Travel itinerary or copy of airline tickets.

Health Insurance:

When applying for a Long Stay Visa you will be asked to provide evidence that you have Health Insurance with an Australian Insurance Policy (with unlimited liability and repatriation to the country of residence). If you are younger than 28 on the 1st October of your study year you can choose to sign a form agreeing to take out Health Insurance Coverage through the French Student Social Security System (EUR 170.75 - the registration for this is done at ISIC). Culture;

Social gatherings, organized trips, concerts, and more abound for ISC students. Opera, modern dance, jazz, dancing the salsa, eating Japanese, having a beer in an American bar or Irish pub, Disneyland Paris - the possibilities are endless. As for the famous 'Paris by Night', ISC students are excellent guides to the clubs - Bains-Douches, Queen, Moulin Rouge or the Crazy Horse

Sport;

Sporting enthusiasts are given the full treatment in Paris: with stadiums, tennis courts, swimming pools, cycle lanes, horse-riding and racing - and more. In addition, Paris hosts some major events: the finish of the Tour de France (cycling), the Paris Marathon, the French tennis Open at Roland-Garros, athletics at the Gaz de France meeting, the Troph'e Lalique (ice-skating) and the Six Nations rugby tournament to name but a few, so you can admire the champions of every sport in fabulous venues.
