Accommodation:
Apartment style on campus accommodation is available for students. Accommodation is divided into male and female housing – House of Freedom (males)/House of Truth (females). Each room accommodates up to 4 people and provides a bed, desk and closet. Each dormitory also offers laundry facilities.

Exchange Student support services:
International students can be met at the airport by members of the Centre for International Relations. Students are also provided with support through Hannam’s ‘buddy’ system which helps prepare visiting students for their Korean life. Hannam University offers exchange students the opportunity to attend Korean language classes at the Centre for Korean Language and Korean Studies for a tuition fee of 1 670 000 won. The duration of classes is 16 weeks every January, March, June, September and October and accommodation for this period is free of charge.
Visa Information:
Any person wishing to study in the Republic of Korea must obtain student visa before commencing a travel to Korea.

Health Insurance:
Hannam University has no health insurance requirements although it is strongly recommended that students take out their own health insurance.
Immunisation Requirements:
There are no immunisation requirements for Hannam University. Students would be advised to update their immunisation status as they would travelling to any Asian country.

About Hannam University:
Hannam University was founded in 1956 by American Southern Presbyterian Minister William A Linton. Since that time it has progressed from its foundation as Daejeon Christian Academy to university status which it gained in 1985. Today it maintains seven graduate schools and eight departments. The student population is over 17 000.
From its inception the spirit of the University has been ‘Truth, Freedom, and Service’ which influences all aspects of life on the Hannam Campus.
Location:
The University is located in the city of Daejeon in the centre of South Korea, approximately 167.3 km from Seoul. The city’s population is 1,390,510 and it covers an area of 539.83 km. It has grown from a cluster of houses and farms nestled on the hills and valleys to a lively city developing around the three rivers and the four mountains and that surround it.
Climate:
Korea has four distinct seasons. Winter is cold, and summer is hot and humid. January has an average temperature of between 4° and -20°C and August’s average temperature is 25.5°C. The wettest time of year is summer when it receives 55% of its rainfall.
Activities:
Students at Hannam University have the opportunity to enrich their lives through various academic, sporting and social avenues. The English Café is a venue where students can meet and relax in an English language environment.
Culture:
Deajeon is a modern bustling city well known as a science and education with centre with such sites as Daedeok Science Town and Daejeon Expo Park, yet it still acknowledges its ancient history. Art Lovers will also find much to keep their interest. Hyundai Gallery is located in the heart of the city; its exhibition reflects modern art trends and is the preferred location for artists to exhibit their work. There is also an historic art gallery nearby.
The National Science Museums main focus is scientifically based, however it does house a large exhibition of Korean nature, folk musical instruments and weapons.
Sport:
Baseball is one of the most popular sports in Korea. Deajeon’s own Hanwha Eagles have dominated the league for many seasons and the sport offers spectators a high quality entertainment experience. Nature lovers will appreciate the beauty of Daecheongho Lake. It is the third largest artificial lake in Korea and is home to many birds and fish. Daecheongho Lake is known as one of Deajeon’s most beautiful areas.
Health, Spirituality and Personal Wellbeing:
Hannun University has strong Christian principles and students are encouraged to contribute to the church and the community by working towards becoming well-rounded intellectuals with high moral values. The 1800 seat chapel welcomes all students to come and work towards achieving this goal.
