Accommodation:
All international Exchange students live on campus. There are a number of residence halls on campus with Knowles Hall designated solely to International and Honours students. The rooms are all equipped with standard twin-size beds, desks, dresser, closet, chair, bookshelf, overhead light, outlet for phone and a waste basket. Students must supply their own bed linen, pillows, blankets, towels, clothes hangers and personal items. Most halls have common areas such as games rooms, kitchens, lounges, study rooms and computer labs. Rooms range from US$1224 to US$1403. There are three meal plans to choose from which range in price from US$1040 to US$1500 per semester. All students living on campus are required to purchase a meal plan.
Approximate expenses for one academic semester:

- Textbooks; US$425 per semester. Students have the opportunity to sell their books back to the
- store for 50% of their purchase price at the end of the semester.

Exchange student support services:
There are a number of offices on campus which provide services to international students. The Foreign Student & Scholar Services (FSSS) sponsors many social and cultural events that assist international students integrate into the campus community. An orientation program is also run by the FSSS at the beginning of each semester and covers such topics as: how to choose and register for classes; immigration regulations and benefits for foreign students; campus academic, social, and recreational services, and community resources. Students will also meet their academic advisor, who will assist them in designing their academic program select classes. For students arriving at the University of Montana up to three days prior to the Foreign Student Orientation a reception service is available. MU representatives will meet new arrivals at the airport or bus depot and transfer them to their accommodation. This service is only available upon request from the Foreign Student & Scholar Services.
Visa:
In order to avoid legal difficulties it is essential that students follow all regulations regarding their visa. It is the student???s responsibility to maintain their own status by understanding and complying with all these regulations. By not following all regulations, students will be considered "out of status", meaning in violation of their immigration. There are serious penalties for those found to be in violation of their visa which may affect an exchange visitor's privilege to stay in the U.S.
Health Insurance:
the University of Montana requires all students to have sufficient medical insurance for the duration of their studies. Students may purchase a plan from the university through the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Montana. Fees per semester are approximately US$450. Students who have purchased other insurance that is equal to or better than Blue Cross/ Blue Shield are eligible to waive this insurance at registration.
- The minimum requirement for coverage is at least US$50,000 per accident or illness.
- Insurance must include coverage for medical evacuation with a US$10,000 minimum. This is used in the unlikely event that there is a need to return you to your home country for medical treatment.
- Insurance coverage for repatriation of remains is required with a US$7,500 minimum. This is used in the event that you should die in the United States and your remains returned to your home country.
- The maximum amount deductible on the health insurance cannot exceed US$500 per accident or illness
An additional fee of US$129 per semester is charged to allow students to visit the health clinic for free.

About the University of Montana: MU is situated on two-hundred acres of land at the base of Mount Sentinel and close to the Clark Fork River. Location:
Missoula is cradled in the lap of the Rocky Mountains, Montana, mid way between Glacier and Yellowstone national park, at the fork of five valleys and close to three major rivers ??? the Blackfoot, the Bitterroot and the Clark Fork. It is a sophisticated city of 60 000 inhabitants, the people are friendly and welcoming to the many visitors that such a popular area attracts.

Missoula???s art galleries, museums, theatres and music groups offer something to please everyone???s tastes. The Art Museum of Missoula not only facilitates many exhibitions but also provides tours and workshops for all ages. Other cultural institutions include the Museum of Mountain Flying, the Northern Rockies Heritage Centre and Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History, a number of independent art galleries as well as dozens of musical and theatre groups.
With so many student organisations at MU, students will find group to support their interests. There are over 150 different clubs to choose from. They cover a wide range of interests, including performing and fine arts, humanities, social and ethnic issues.
Sport;
Set in such an idyllic environment Missoula is a huge attraction for lovers of the great outdoors. Activities range from white water rafting for adrenalin junkies to peaceful fishing in any of the rivers nearby. Of course the Rocky Mountain and valleys hosts some of the greatest hiking, cycling and camping spots anywhere.
There is a sporting club for everyone at MU. Just some of the activities students enjoy are golfing, fishing, rock climbing, hiking and mountain biking. Indoor activities are offered as well. The Campus Fitness and Recreation Centre runs fitness classes in yoga, martial arts, dance and Tai Chi as well as housing a weights room, indoor pool and climbing wall. So whether students are indoors or out they have no excuse not to keep active.
