Murray Children's Centre Philosophy
We pride ourselves in offering full-time learning experiences to children birth to five years in an innovative and inclusive centre that is guided by exemplary practise and research. Our centre is open to all children from the university and surrounding communities. Each day we provide children security, comforting familiarity, and continuity of care, which promote confidence and foster independence. We value small and large group experiences for children, and the staff work to facilitate exploration and learning through imaginative play.
We believe optimal growth and individual development, requires that staff work as a collaborative team to provide a learning environment that nurtures and stimulates the individual learner. This unique collegial partnership is essential in order to effectively identify and nurture individualised learning experiences. We draw on our professional knowledge and our partnership with families to provide a true team approach to programming and learning.
We draw on the professionalism of staff to develop and deliver an emergent program, which is child focused. This multi-faceted, cohesive and dynamic program offers both challenge and continuity. We incorporate natural materials into programming and environment. In our endeavours to offer a broad range of experiences, we adopt a holistic approach to care, one that increases self-awareness and autonomy in every child.
We recognise and positively promote individuality. We identify, and actively encourage respect for individual talent and ability, believing every individual has something worthwhile and valuable to contribute. Young children are our primary concern and foremost consideration influencing and motivating our practice and interactions every day. We welcome the opportunities they provide us to grow each day.
We are part of the Charles Sturt University community. We seek to promote the highest standards of applied practical experience and research. As University members, we aim to consistently strengthen the mutually beneficial ties between our centre and academic and professional partners. We work toward forming enduring, positive relationships that are reciprocal in nature. It is our goal that staff, families, children and community members communicate expectations in a mutually respectful and receptive manner.
