KNIGHT-RIDDER UPDATE is the DIALOG, DataStar and KR ONDISC User's day. The morning session will highlight options for accessing information including web-based resources and new software. We will focus too on search features to get you information faster and easier, such as email delivery of Alerts and prints, and full-text document delivery from KR SourceOne. At lunch hear Peter Martin from Knight-Ridder Information, California, and Heinz Ochsner from DataStar in Switzerland talk of future developments for users.
A series of afternoon sessions will focus on special interest areas such as news, products, materials, intellectual property, market research and company information, and feature demonstrations of our software options and special customized interfaces.

Rights Management Seminar
Kerry Webb and AIMA will be presenting a half-day seminar "Information and Copyright: managing the rights of the creators and the users" from 1.30 - 5.00pm on Monday 20 January 1997 at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre.
The keynote speaker is Bill Tuck, a consultant specialising in the economic and legal aspects of electronic document delivery systems. Other speakers representing copyright agencies, the Internet industry, and information providers will discuss current developments in the management of copyright and the means of accounting for use of copyright material.
The cost of Registration is $85 to AIMA or ALIA members, $95 to others.

Setting Up An Electronic Journal
9.00am - 4.30pm, Australian National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour
The ALIA Information Science Section and the CSIRO Division of Information Technology are jointly organising this seminar which will give participants practical information and advice to assist them in setting up an e-journal. Speakers include Dr Bob Jansen (CSIRO), Patrick Wilken (Monash University) and Jan Fullerton (NLA) and the seminar will cover technical requirements, administration and content, archiving and preservation.
Seminar fee $120 ALIA and CSIRO members, $140 non members.

Showcasing Program 2(A) Improved Information Infrastructure - Network Information Support
The Australian Vice Chancellors' Committee (AVCC) was allocated a special grant from the National Priority (Reserve) Fund for the period 1994-96 for the development of library infrastructure in Australia.
Program 2(a) has been responsible for developing projects focused in three areas: Network Information Services, the development and provision of Network Training Programs and Electronic Document Delivery.
Projects from each of the three areas of the program will report on activities undertaken with the support of the Program. Implications for the future support of networked addressed.
