About the Foundation

The Pharmacy Foundation was developed to support the Charles Sturt University Pharmacy Program which was established in 1997 with the primary aim of addressing the shortage of pharmacists in rural areas.

The Pharmacy Foundation has supported the development of this program by contributing to the establishment of suitable facilities at the Wagga campus and providing scholarships for students and other initiatives. This is possible because the Pharmacy Foundation is assisted by financial support from the community, pharmacists, staff, ex-students and industry.

The Foundation sits within the framework of the Charles Sturt Foundation, a non-profit independent company affiliated to the University that acts as Trustee for a number of funds on all of its campuses. The Pharmacy Foundation operates independently of the University and is governed by a Management Committee.

"CSU provides an innovative pharmacy program that has already had a very positive impact on pharmacy practice, particularly in regional Australia. CSU, with Australia's first non-metropolitan pharmacy course, has an enviable reputation as a centre of excellence in pharmacy practice. To allow it to expand its Pharmacy Program, I fully endorse the appointment of a Professor of Rural Pharmacy to the Faculty.... "
