Riverina Conservatorium Youth ChoirThe Riverina Conservatorium Youth Choir has been formed primarily as a "feeder choir" to the existing Contemporary Choir directed by Heather and David Wall. The choir will allow children from the ages of nine to thirteen to become part of an exciting extension of the vocal department of the Conservatorium. The beginning of each choir session will have children participating in breathing and vocal exercises and after that the fun begins! Various styles of song will be taught, such as musical theatre/pop/traditional/folk/gospel etc. and a concert at the end of the year will then allow parents and friends to hear how wonderful the blending of such young voices can be. Not only will children benefit from participating in a group environment, focus will also be placed on gaining preliminary knowledge in reading of vocal scores, learning musical terms and note values. Choir director Teresa English hopes that this will then allow them to proceed to the advanced choir with a lot more confidence and enthusiasm. Teresa, who has been a student of Heather Wall's for many years, is involved with the Contemporary Choir and has many years of experience of classical piano training behind her. She is excited to be part of this project and especially hopes that the children involved in this choir will grow up appreciating the enjoyment music and singing has to offer. Assisting her will be Jo Burrows a highly qualified music teacher. If your daughter or son is interested in attending the RCYC, rehearsals are currently being held at the Riverina Conservatorium on Tuesdays between 6-7pm. Enrolment forms are available at the front office or phone 69253522 for more information. | |
