What is Pre-instrumental Music?

The Riverina's Pre-instrumental Program is a music education program for young children who have yet to start learning an instrument. It includes the Kodaly- sol fa singing system, Orff Schlwerk rhythm and pitch programs, Dalcroze dance method all incorporated into a unique Australian Musical Experience.

Why Have Pre-instrumental Lessons?

Music is fun and part of who we are. Research has shown that there are many intellectual, social, emotional, and physical benefits of participating in music making, especially for the younger child. Early music exposure will:
  • Develop connections between the left and right brain in a way that sport will not.
  • Develop co-ordination
  • Improve gross and fine motor skills
  • Stimulate learning centres in brain
  • Develop concentration
  • Develop confidence
  • Develop reading skills
  • Increase musical potential
