Craig Walton - Clarinet, Saxophone

BMus

Craig initially became interested in playing the clarinet when he joined his local high school bands in both Melbourne and Canberra. After finishing his secondary education, he commenced tertiary studies at the Canberra School of Music, Australian National University, which he completed in 1992. During this time Craig regularly played with various music societies in the ACT such as Canberra Youth Orchestra, Canberra Philharmonic Society, Canberra Wind Ensemble and Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

After completing his studies, Craig joined the Riverina Conservatorium of Music as a clarinet/saxophone teacher in July 1992, and has performed in and around the Wagga Wagga region for many years. Craig has a particular interest in ensembles and has directed many school groups over the years. He formed and directed the groups "Sax Appeal" and the "Licorice Allsorts", who performed regularly and became quite well known in the community. Currently Craig conducts the Kooringal Primary School Junior Band, the Riverina Anglican College Jazz Band and the Riverina Concert Band, whilst maintaining an active teaching studio at the conservatorium.
