Damien Johnson - Cello

Damien commenced his enjoyment of the cello at the tender age of two but did not start lessons until the age of five. Formal tuition was then initiated under the tutelage of Nathan Wax in Sydney, before he joined the Sydney Youth Orchestra at the age of seven.

Training continued under Henry Urbanavicuos and then continued at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under Lois Simpson. He was involved in a number of string ensembles at the Conservatorium and performed regularly at the Conservatorium and around Sydney, before moving to Queensland and pursuing contemporary music.

Tertiary education was undertaken in Wagga, which as a matter of course became his main base. He has been a teacher at the Riverina Conservatorium since 2000.
