Hamish Tait - Director, Piano

Hamish holds Masters degrees in both Music and Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland. He has studied piano with Wendy Lorenz and Roy Howat. In 1997 Hamish was awarded a Regional Arts Development Fund allowing him to study piano and accompaniment in London with the renowned pianist/accompanist Nina Walker, herself a pupil of Claudio Arrau and Alfred Cortot.

In 1999 Hamish was appointed as a piano teacher at the Tamworth Regional Conservatorium and was appointed Director and principal piano teacher of the Gunnedah Music Centre in 2000. In 2003 he was appointed as the Director of the Riverina Conservatorium of Music in Wagga Wagga.

Hamish has held the positions of President and Executive Secretary of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums serving a total of six years on the ANSWRC Committee. In 2009 he was appointed as and the Vice-Chair of the 10th Australian Piano Pedagogy Conference which will be hosted by the Riverina Conservatorium of Music in July 2011.

In addition to his activities as a music educator, Hamish appears regularly as a piano soloist, duo pianist, accompanist and chamber musician. Currently, Hamish is the pianist for the Riverina Conservatorium of Music's resident ensembles Trio al Quartetto and the Riverina Trio. He has toured and performed throughout Australia and the UK. Hamish has recorded contemporary Australian music and has been broadcast on ABC Classic FM.
