Susan Hingston - VoiceBA Literature and Cultural Studies (University of Melbourne) Sue is a classically trained soprano with AMEB accreditation. She regularly appears as a solo guest artist for engagements such as: singing the National Anthem (and other patriotic songs) on Australia Day 2011 at the Wagga Wagga Civic Ceremony at the Victory Memorial Gardens with the Australian Army Band Kapooka; Musical Theatre songs at the Civic Theatre for Music at Midday with the Australian Army Band Kapooka; Proms style concerts in Junee and Leeton singing Aria's also with the AABK and as a lead and ensemble singer in the SoACT production of "Cole" at the Wagga RSL in 2010, along with encore performances at the Wagga Jazz and Blues Festival 2010. She has fond memories of her first singing performance in Wagga, at the Christmas Spectacular (Carols by Candlelight) at the Wagga Music Bowl in 2008. Sue is a member of the RCM's Choir, The Cantilena Singers, with whom she also performs as a soloist, such as her recent recital of Franz Schubert's "Der Erlkonig" (The Erl King) at the Wagga Wagga RSL. Sue was a member of the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic for about 13 years and served for several years on their Committee and as their Membership Secretary. She has also performed in Opera in the Market (Victoria). Whilst living in the USA for a stint, Sue sang with the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans and did volunteer work for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2012 Sue joined the cast of the Wagga Civic Theatre's production of My Fair Lady. She is enjoying life in Wagga and looking forward to performing some of her favourite Lieder and Art Songs as part of the RCM's Lunchtime Concert Series in May. |
