The 2012 Riverina Summer School for Strings and
Sounds of Summer Concert Series
has successfully concluded

Thank you to all tutors, participants and families of the
25th Riverina Summer School for Strings for helping to make it a great success.

It is with much sadness that after 16 years at the school, with 11 of those at the helm, Carl Pini has decided not to continue as Music Director for 2013. We thank him for the enormous contribution that he has made to all the students from regional and metropolitan Australia and to all the audiences who have been thrilled by his playing in the Sounds of Summer Concert Series.

In recognition of this contribution, the Camerata has been re-named as the Carl Pini Orchestra.
We wish Carl and his wife Jane Hazelwood all the best for their future activities.

The next school will run from 12 - 19 January 2013 and we are very pleased to announce that Goetz Richter will be Music Director.

If you wish to receive the new brochure by July this year, email us via the link below.

Details of the 2013 school will be posted as they come to hand,
in the meantime you can read below the activities of the school of 2012

7 - 14 January 2012

Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga

Carl Pini: Music Director

Carl Pini will be our Music Director again and he will be accompanied by a range of dedicated and talented tutors. This year will see the return of many of our well-known regulars as well as some new faces in Goetz Richter and Leone Ziegler (violin), Kees Boersma and Kirsty McCahon (double bass), Matt Withers (classical guitar) Jeanell Carrigan (piano) and the return of Tamaris Pfeiffer (violin/viola) and Adrian Wallis (cello). Select the Tutor tab above for more details about the teachers participating at the school in 2012

All our chamber music concerts are held at Joyes Hall and the Thursday concert will be a tango feature, also at Joyes Hall.

The Classes

The School caters for players of violin, viola, cello, double bass and guitar of all ages, from six to eighty, and offers a range of string playing activities to cater for varying interests and abilities. A limited number of instruments will be available for hire at a reasonable rate.

For older students and adults, a moderately high standard of playing is desirable. A formal qualification however, is not necessary. Short informal auditions will be held upon arrival at the School in order to ascertain skills in sight reading and playing from memory as well as general musicianship skills so as to facilitate placement in one of the two string orchestras.

The Concerts

An outstanding feature of the School is the Sounds of Summer Concert Series which takes place almost every night during the week of the school.
