Learning Online at CSU

The University's extensive online environment provides you access to the online services and facilities you will need to access during your time as a CSU student. Whether you are studying on-campus or through Distance Education, these online facilities and services will help you in your study, and can also meet many of your administrative and social needs as a student.

my.csu is your personalised portal to the full range of online services and facilities for CSU students and staff. The URL (or Web address) is:
http://my.csu.edu.au

This portal is the front door to the CSU online environment and provides links to a wide variety of online services necessary for students, such as email, CSU discussion forums, personal details, exam results, Student Services, the Library and other administrative areas of the University.

The CSU Interact Subject Sites tool within the my.csu desktop is your central gateway into CSU Interact ??? the online learning environment at the University.

CSU Interact is a new and developing online learning and collaboration environment where students and staff meet to build community, share knowledge, and work together in an online learning environment. From January 2008, all the essential learning content and learning tools you will need for your subjects are found within Interact. Each subject you're enrolled in has its own subject site within the Interact online learning environment. You can easily navigate to any of your Interact subject sites by using the subjects listed in the My Subjects tool, and simply clicking the subject code or title of the subject you wish to view.

Each Interact subject site provides you with access to study materials, and to a number of essential CSU online services (such as Forums, EASTS, OASIS). There is now a new, extended set of learning and teaching tools that allow students some exciting possibilities to share and collaborate in meaningful and interactive ways with other students and subject lecturers. This new set of learning and collaboration tools includes, among other things, a Wiki, Chat facility, Calendar and Resources sharing.

What Online Learning Means

Learning online simply means that you study at the University by using a computer connected to the Internet. This could be from a home computer, from one located within a campus computer lab, or perhaps from a laptop connected through on-campus wireless technology.

For a CSU student, online leaning means being able to find administrative and support information; being able to carry out tasks in relation to your enrolment at the University; and being able to locate resources for study purposes. Thus, you are able to connect directly to areas such as Student Services, Student Administration, the CSU Library, and the Coop Bookshop.

CSU Interact, the common online learning gateway at CSU, is a vital place for students within the University online environment, since this is the main entry point for gaining access to all subjects you are enrolled in. Your Interact subject site is where you find your study material - your subject outline; but additionally, each subject site also provides enhanced opportunities for meaningful Interaction between you and your lecturer and between you and your fellow students through a variety of e-communication tools and services, as shown in the screen below:
