Opening of the thirteenth cottage 2007

Multipurpose Building Project

The College is currently fundraising to build a community centre for students. The multipurpose centre will contain a large meeting area to accommodate current student population, storage space, a tutorial/study common, kitchen, staff room and office space. The building will also encompass an outdoor amphitheatre as well as a student BBQ area. The estimated cost of this project is $835,000.  St Martins College has received a distribution of $500,000 towards this project from the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation and work on the new building will commence in July 2008. The College is fundraising for a further $200,000 from the local community. All donations are tax deductible. Please contact the college if you can assist.

Thriving @ Uni Project

This project is aimed at assisting students to thrive at university rather than survive from day to day. It will involve the production of a student cookbook, cooking classes -especially aimed at the use of convection microwaves, workshops on responsible use of alcohol, young adult health, sexuality, accessing university and government services. Other ongoing workshops throught the year will include contextual issues such as suicide, depression, grief, and dealing with divorce in families. This project will cost in the vicinity of $20,000 for a 5 year project.

Student Vege Garden Project

Students have begun constructing a fruit, vegetable and herb garden.  This project is aimed at assisting students to eat healthy food and reduce their living costs whilst living in St Martin's College. The project has already received some assistance from Bunnings, Fernleigh Road Nursery, Loam and Stone Landscaping and Charles Sturt University. The garden will also be of practical assistance to landscaping, education and agriculture students as well as providing a place for quiet reflection. This project will cost around $5,000 initially.
