English Skills for Academic Writing - SSS017
Description
This subject aims to develop the knowledge and skills of students in the fundamental area of grammatical accuracy in academic writing. It complements the STUDY LINK subjects: Transition to Tertiary Study and Academic Skills Development.
Topics covered: the importance of good communication, features of a good paragraph, understanding parts of speech, writing a grammatically correct sentence, using punctuation and common spelling conventions including frequently confused words.
SSS017 is available in distance mode. The subject is self-paced and requires approximately 13 hours to complete.
English Skills for Academic Writing is also available to international students studying offshore. The fee is $168.
Please note: The last offering of this subject will be Trimester 3A 2009 (session 201003). This subject will be replaced by Grammar Essentials for Writing at University (SSS024) in 2010.
