Introduction to Bioscience - SSS025
Description
The aim of this subject is to provide students with foundation material relevant to studies in human bioscience. The subject covers the language of biosciences, an introduction to clinically relevant mathematics, physics and chemistry, and an introduction to the human body.
Topics covered include review of basic mathematical principles relevant to biomedical sciences; foundations of chemistry (e.g. elements and atoms, ion formation; molecule formation and bonding principles; chemical reactions); introduction to physics (e.g. concepts of force; pressure; flow;); structure and function of cells and their organisation into tissues, organs, and organ systems; primary function and structure of each of the body systems and associated terminology.
