Mathematics for Teachers - SSS027

Description

The aim of this subject is to provide students studying Teaching degrees with a comprehensive review of the mathematics language, concepts and skills needed for their course. The subject looks at the three content strands of the national mathematics curriculum of number and algebra/patterns; measurement, space and geometry; and data and concentrates on K to 7 content.

Topics covered include: whole number properties and operations, decimal number and fraction properties and operations, applications of percentages, measurement, properties of shapes, organisation of data, chance and probability and introduction to patterns.

This subject is studied by distance education mode, requiring approximately 26 hours of individual study time. There is ready access to support when needed and extra resources available to help explain the rules and concepts as you work through the subject.
