What are the advantages of studying at CSU?
CSU is a multi-campus University with established traditions and a proud record of higher education in Australia. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and is the largest provider of distance education in Australia.
How do I study during Summer Session?
Study at home or on holiday, using high quality learning materials. You can study while on holidays or stay in employment and earn while you learn. Distance Education Study allows you the flexibility to balance work, family and social commitments.
What do I receive?
After completing your application and selecting your subject(s) you receive learning materials and information package(s) in the mail comprising of:
- your course materials;
- a comprehensive learning guide which outlines subject matter and assessment procedures;
- hints on how to set out a study plan;
- practical assignments to help you master the subject matter;
- assessment and support information.
The student’s contact with teaching staff is through a combination of methods which can include written assignments, telephone calls, facsimiles, teleconferences and email.
If you are an international student and your address is an offshore address for Summer, your learning materials package will be couriered to you. If you are a domestic/commonwealth supported student studying your Summer subject/s overseas your pack will be posted to you via air mail, but you can request it to be couriered to you overseas at your cost, if you email lmcdespatch@csu.edu.au. (The cost is determined by the courier company). You need to do this before the 30th October 2009. Your account will be billed for the cost
Exams and residential schools are held for some subjects.
Do I have to attend the University?
Some subjects may require attendance at a residential school. Residential schools are held where particular skills and tasks can only be done using University facilities. Information on residential school requirements are contained in the individual subject descriptions.
It is particularly important for International Students to check this requirement for each subject, as you would have to travel from afar to attend. Residential School dates are: 1-3 December 2009. Check each subject listing for more details
Accommodation is available on campus during residential schools if required. You may book this by completing the residential school booking form, which will be sent to you after you have registered in the subject.
