Pathway program

The pathway program is a program for students who wish to study at CSU but do not meet the entry criteria or require further preparation. Aimed primarily at recent school leavers, the pathway program is a partnership between CSU and TAFE, that on successful completion, guarantees students entry to selected CSU degrees.

Program Structure

Students are enrolled at both TAFE and CSU and study a combination of a TAFE Certificate IV along with 4 CSU degree subjects.

TAFE subject 2
TAFE subject 3
MGT 173              Understanding Organisations and Management (taken from MGT100)

Session 2

SCI 173     Understanding Science (taken from SCI101)

Student attainment

On successful completion of the Program students receive the following:

  • University Certificate in General Studies from CSU
  • Cert IV from TAFE
  • Guaranteed entry into CSU degrees (non competitive)
  • In some cases, credit for up to 4 of the CSU subjects

Delivery mode

The pathway program is studied face to face over 2 x 17 week sessions. The first session is studied on the TAFE campus (including the CSU subject) with visits to CSU. Second session is studied at CSU.

Fees and funding

Students are covered by CGS funding for the CSU component of the course. Students pay fees to TAFE for the Cert IV component of the course. ($1250 if no concession card or $295 with a concession card)

An outbound campaign to students who applied but did not receive an offer to courses listed in guaranteed entry is conducted by Info.CSU after the main round of UAC offers.

The course was piloted in 2010 with Wodonga Institute of TAFE and the Albury Thurgoona Campus at CSU. 21 students enrolled in the course, 15 of whom successfully completed the course and were offered direct entry to CSU. In 2011 the course has expanded to be available on the Bathurst and Wagga campuses, in conjunction with Western and Riverina Institutes of TAFE respectively.
