Facilities

Kiah McCarthyBy participating in this course you will have full access to the Animation and Visual Effects Studio located in the School of Visual and Performing Arts. This executive studio is the most popular place to find fellow students and see work in production. The room hosts specially engineered high-end VFX workstations for student use and are the only machines licensed to run Autodesk, Adobe and Eyeon professional visual effects software within the university.

Video equipment is available for free hire through the AV Store and imaging equipment from the Photography Store. Both stores are incredibly powerful resources enabling students to temporarily acquire equipment that would normally cost hundreds of dollars a day. General access to the Jack Cross Centre computer labs is available 24 hours every day during semester, subject to JCC after hours access policy and scheduling of classes.

Students also have access to additional hardware/software in the School of Visual and Performing Arts building where there are general and specialized facilities for scanning (flatbed and transparency) video and sound analogue to digital conversion, digital sound manipulation, video editing and DVD authoring. Use of these facilities is generally restricted to specialist subjects. It may also be possible to arrange access to facilities in other disciplines depending on availability.
